Location and Transportation
The Institute (SGPGIMS) is situated on Lucknow-Raebareli road. The locality falls in the Southeast of the Lucknow city which is the capital of Uttar Pradesh the largest state of India. It is situated nearly 12 Km from the main (Charbagh) railway station, 14 Km from Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport and about 15 Km from the city center (Hazratganj). From the railway station, private buses (route 3) run to the Institute at short intervals. Alternatively, pre-paid auto-rickshaws are also available for travel to the Institute.
Salient Features of SGPGIMS Hospital
It is a unique tertiary level government run hospital with 1200 beds for various superpecialities. The hospital works as a referral hospital and patients are required to bring a referral slip from the referring physician. The referring physicians are requested to indicate the nature of patients' problem, the specialty at the Institute they wish to refer the patient to and the nature of help required from the Institute.
Our pediatric urology subspecialty is well-known nationally as well as internationally for the clinical work and research work. This subspecialty program is the integral part of the department of Urology and renal transplantation. We have published more than 50 articles and book chapters in the field of pediatric urology. The division also offers one of the leading accredited one-year research/clinical fellowship training program.
We provide state of the art diagnostic and therapeutic services for the entire spectrum of pediatric urological conditions affecting the kidneys, bladder and genitourinary system. We run twice a week OPD with yearly visit of more than 5000 children. We are performing around 700-800 pediatric urological surgeries annually which include entire spectrum of endourological, laparoscopic and reconstructive procedures. We have well established renal transplant programme for pediatric populations and we have performed more than 100 renal transplants in pediatric and adolescent age group.
